Botox treatment

A million people have been treated with BOTOX ® Cosmetic since its FDA approval in 2002.

What causes frown lines between the brows? How does BOTOX ® Cosmetic help?

The lines that appear between your brows are the result of muscle movement and the passage of time.
Two muscles are largely responsible for frown lines between the brows; when those muscles contract, they draw the brows together and, as skin becomes less elastic over time, repeated frowning can result in those moderate-to-severe lines between your brows.

BOTOX ® Cosmetic works by blocking nerve impulses, reducing movement of those muscles. With less movement, the skin surface gradually smooths out, and the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows begin to fade.

Unretouched clinical photos taken while frowning before and 30 days after treatment with BOTOX ® Cosmetic. In clinical trials, 89% of patients rated improvement in frown lines between their brows as moderate or better at day 30. Individual results may vary.

Just what is BOTOX ® Cosmetic? Is it FDA approved?

BOTOX ® Cosmetic is a purified protein. It is a nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily reduce moderate-to-severe frown lines between the brows in patients 18 to 65 years of age. During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX ® Cosmetic are administered via a few tiny injections, directly into the muscles that cause those stubborn lines between the brows.

BOTOX ® Cosmetic is the only treatment of its type approved by the FDA for this use. The treatment is minimally invasive, and nonsurgical. It requires no recovery time and causes little discomfort.

What is the treatment like? Where can I have it done?

BOTOX ® Cosmetic is a quick and minimally invasive treatment. Your doctor makes a few tiny injections into the muscles that cause moderate to severe frown lines between your brows.

Your doctor will determine exactly where to administer the injections to achieve the best results. No anesthesia is
required, although he or she may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream prior to injecting. The entire procedure takes approximately ten minutes. Discomfort is minimal and brief – most patients compare the sensation to a mosquito bite. You may resume normal activity immediately.

Any authorized healthcare professional can administer BOTOX ® Cosmetic, but dermatologists, plastic surgeons, ophthalmologists, otolaryngologists or other cosmetic physicians are generally more experienced. Your physician can help you decide if BOTOX ® Cosmetic is right for you.

How soon will I see a difference? What kind of results can I expect?

You can expect to see results within days after your treatment, however, the appearance of the area between your brows may continue to improve for up to a week.

By day 30 in a patient clinical study, 89% of patients judged the severity of their frown lines between their brows as moderate or better.

Visible results can last up to four months. After that, you may be ready to return for a follow-up treatment.
Patients with neurological disorders such as ALS, Myasthenia Gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects. The most common side effects include headache, respiratory infection, flu syndrome, temporary eyelid drooping and nausea.

Other side effects include pain and redness where the medicine is injected, pain in the face and muscle weakness.

These effects generally occur within the first week and usually go away on their own.

Your own results may vary – be sure to talk to your doctor about what to expect.

How soon will I need a second treatment? What happens if I decide not to continue?

The effects of each treatment can last up to four months – be sure to schedule your follow-up treatments in advance.

If you decide not to continue with BOTOX ® Cosmetic, the area between your brows will eventually go back to its pre-treatment appearance.

How does BOTOX ® Cosmetic compare to other options?

Compared to other aesthetic treatment options, BOTOX ® Cosmetic is relatively inexpensive. According to a survey by The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, it’s one of the least expensive facial aesthetic procedures. When you consider the difference it can make in the appearance of the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows, you may find BOTOX ® Cosmetic to be a great way to invest in yourself.

BOTOX ® Cosmetic treats the cause of these frown lines between the brows, by reducing the muscle contractions that cause the lines to form over time. BOTOX ® Cosmetic is the only treatment of its kind approved by the FDA for the temporary improvement of moderate-to-severe frown lines between the brows.

If you’re looking for something to treat the area between your brows, be sure to talk to your doctor about BOTOX ®

    Juvéderm

    What is Juvéderm?

Juvéderm is the number one dermal filler in the United States. It’s an instant cosmetic enhancement that gives you a refreshed look by smoothing wrinkles and restoring volume to reverse the signs of aging. It can also be used to enhance facial features, including your lips and cheeks, for added fullness and definition with a natural look. Juvéderm is made of hyaluronic acid, the acid that naturally exists in the human body to give skin volume and fullness.

What is Juvéderm best used for?

Juvéderm works best on what are referred to as “static lines,” the lines you can see when your face is still. It also softens smile lines, restores lost fullness in your cheeks, enhances the size and shape of your lips and restores the contour of your jaw.

    How long does Juvéderm last?

Currently, Juvéderm is the only hyaluronic acid filler that’s FDA approved to last up to one year.

How soon can I expect results with Juvéderm?

Results are instant, and most people only need one treatment to achieve their desired results.

    What makes Juvéderm unique?

Aside from being the only hyaluronic acid filler that’s FDA approved to last up to one year, Juvéderm is the only dermal filler with a smooth consistency, as opposed to the granular consistency of other fillers. Additionally, it is formulated with lidocaine, a common anesthetic, which helps make you more comfortable both during treatment and after.

Juvéderm is also the first hyaluronic acid facial filler that has demonstrated effectiveness in people of color. Another main advantage of Juvéderm, compared to other semi-permanent fillers is that it is reversible.

What can I expect during a Juvéderm treatment?

Your doctor will inject Juvéderm directly into the skin with an ultra-fine needle. The smooth gel flows easily into the skin, providing a soft, natural look and feel. The entire treatment will take between 15 and 60 minutes, depending on the areas being treated.

    Voluma

Don’t let your cheeks give away your age. Reverse gravity for a more youthful appearance. As you get older, your cheeks can naturally lose volume resulting in sagging facial skin. Juvéderm Voluma XC instantly adds volume to your cheek area, enhancing your facial features. As the first and only FDA-approved injectable gel, it provides a natural and delicate lift for up to two years. It’s a favorable treatment to reverse the signs of aging due to volume loss in adults over the age of 21.

    Volbella

Volbella is a new type of hyaluronic acid-based filler specifically formulated for your lips and the delicate skin around your mouth. Volbella combines different weights of hyaluronic acid to give your lips a more smooth, natural feel while plumping and filling lines.

    Vollure

Vollure is injected into the areas of facial tissue where moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds occur, including the “parentheses lines” around the nose and mouth. It is designed to temporarily correct facial wrinkles for a smoother appearance to the face.

    Silk

Silk is another filler made with hyaluronic acid, and is designed specifically for lip enhancements as well as smoothing out the wrinkles found around your mouth. Silk is better suited for finer lines.

    Lyft

Lyft (formerly known as Perlane),  is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel that is designed to lift cheeks, replenish volume, and contour the face by smoothing away wrinkles and smile lines.

    Sculptra

Sculptra is the first facial injectable that gives you a promising, yet natural-looking appearance over time. Made from poly-L-lactic acid, it helps replace lost collagen and correct facial wrinkles and folds caused by aging. The main ingredient in Sculptra is a biocompatible, biodegradable synthetic material that has been used by physicians for decades, making it safe and reliable. Treatment consists of approximately three injection sessions over a few months and can last more than two years.

How does Sculptra differ from dermal fillers like Restylane and Juvederm?

Other dermal fillers, including Restylane and Juvederm are designed for immediate results, whereas Sculptra’s results emerge gradually, so you can reverse the signs of aging and return to a more youthful appearance, without anyone wondering if you’ve “had work done”.

    What is Sculptra made of?

Sculptra Aesthetic is made of a synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid, which works to replace lost collagen. Poly-L-lactic acid is safe, absorbed naturally by the body and has been used for years in dissolvable stitches.

    What is Sculptra used for?

Sculptra treats shallow wrinkles, as well as deep wrinkles and facial folds.

    How long does Sculptra last?

Sculptra’s refined, youthful results last up to two years after your last treatment.

How soon can I expect results with Sculptra?

Because Sculptra targets the underlying causes of the signs of facial aging, results aren’t immediate. Instead, you’ll receive a series of injections – probably three – which will take place over the course of a few months. Some visible improvements can be seen within the first few weeks of treatment, but the Sculptra regimen is designed to deliver its unique effects over a few months, and last for up to two years. Because results happen gradually, you’ll see subtle yet noticeable results in the appearance of facial wrinkles and folds.

    Is Sculptra FDA approved?

Sculptra has been safely used worldwide since 1999, with over 150,000 patients, under the trade names New-Fill™ and Sculptra. In 2009, the FDA granted approval in the U.S. for the correction of shallow to deep nasolabial fold (smile lines), contour deficiencies and other facial wrinkles, which are treated with the appropriate injection technique in healthy people.

    Dysport

Tackle the initial signs of facial aging with Dysport. This prescription injection is used to temporarily enhance the look of moderate to severe frown lines. Results are subtle, without altering the overall appearance of your overall face. Untreated facial muscles will continue to function naturally, allowing you to show facial expressions, such as smiling, without restraint in untreated areas.
